This past August I had the opportunity to travel to Guyana with Evangelist Asif Hassan and three other team members, for a three nigh
t Gospel Crusade on the island of Wakenaam.
We all embarked upon this trip expecting God to do great things and God did not disappoint. Never before had the Island of Wakenaam seen such a response to this type of meeting. On this small island of around 4,000 people, mostly Hindu or Muslim, about 1,000 people attended the meetings each night to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ preached. Many responded as the call to receive Jesus was given. Even after our meetings some who did not come out to the grounds said they heard the message and singing from their homes. Thank God for loudspeakers!!
Every night the sick were prayed for, and many testified that they had been healed. It was truly a fulfillment of Mark 16:15, 17-18 where Jesus commissioned us to go, and He said that signs and wonders would follow those who believe. One young lady, 31 years old, who had suffered with severe back and neck pain was healed instantly in the name of Jesus. When this young woman came forward for prayer her face showed pain and sadness. When she realized she had been healed, joy was expressed in a beaming smile that lit up her face. She said she had suffered with this pain since she was 16 years old. It was obvious God had touched her. It was truly amazing to see the power of God demonstrated in front of my very eyes. We serve a mighty God.
At the Saturday morning Fire Conference for believers we witnessed a mighty outpouring of God’s Spirit. It was truly an "upper room" experience as the fire of God fell on the people gathered in the small covered area of the bleachers in the cricket grounds. The people’s faith was stirred by the preaching of the Word, and we began to sing and ask the Lord to pour out His Spirit. The Lord answered. The power of God fell on one woman and what followed was like a spreading of fire. Soon the entire room was filled with praises to God as people were being filled with the Spirit and speaking in tongues. Both young and old alike were filled. Age was no factor, as even a lady who was about 80 years old was leaping in praise to God, as she was filled with Holy Spirit.
Witnessing the power of God in demonstration has increased my faith to believe Him to move mightily and do great things every time the gospel is preached. God is truly awesome. Thank you all for your prayers and giving to missions that allows us to go and impact the world with the Gospel of Christ. To God be all the glory!
Signs and wonders did follow the preaching of the Word!
